Second post. My first day in Seville!

I made it to Seville around 2p.m , or 8 am US time.  Traveling went really smoothly.  Security and customs did not even have lines and it was all very quick for me.  My flights left pretty close to on time.  Once I got to Madrid I still had to somehow get to my final destination Seville.  I took a bus and I got to see the city of Madrid which was so beautiful.  Then I took the famous AVE train to Seville and I am sure if I would have stayed awake I would have seen a lot of beautiful things.  It was very interesting traveling especially once I got to Spain.  Every person I talked to I would start in spanish but they can tell if you aren't from there and they switch right to english.  It was rather helpful, but I thought I was speaking well enough where they didn't have to switch to english for me.

I am currently at my hotel in Seville because tomorrow is orientation.  My hotel has across the street a movie theatre and a cafe.   I'll try to get some pictures up soon.  It really is beautiful even though I have not seen a whole lot of the city yet.

First post, two days before my departure!

Hello everyone! I am starting my packing for Sevilla, Spain because I leave in two days.  At first I was really nervous about this process but as I am getting closer I am more and more excited to leave.  I talked to my roommate that I will be living abroad with and she sounds like a very nice person.  She described my soon to be host mother as a very nice, sweet caring person.  After talking to my roommate I feel very relieved and less nervous to go to Spain.  I have been at CMU now for three years taking spanish classes non-stop but I never feel confident or anywhere near fluent with the language.  This experience will be a stepping stone for me and hopefully one day I will speak spanish very well.  I know I can never ever be fluent because I was not raised on the language but I know after this summer I will sound a lot better.

My next post will probably be about my flight and traveling on the famous AVE train system!
